BOGESTRA AG, the public transport operator serving the central Ruhr area, faced rising energy costs and growing economic pressure to improve fleet efficiency and driver performance. To meet needs for easy administration, automatic driver feedback, driver training and later ticketing integration, BOGESTRA chose a RIBAS®-based fleet management solution delivered by Kienzle Automotive in partnership with vendor MiX Telematics.

MiX Telematics integrated the RIBAS® displays into its FM database, implemented automated personalized weekly driver reports, driver training and a bonus scheme, and supported depot roll‑out to 260 vehicles. The programme achieved measurable results: pilot data showed up to 20% fuel reduction, an average saving of 4–4.5 l/100 km (~7%) at the Ückendorf depot, roughly 600 tonnes CO2 saved in year one and a payback of about one year, while also reducing maintenance needs and improving passenger experience. MiX Telematics’ platform enabled fast reporting and ongoing monitoring to sustain these gains.
