Barloworld Transport - Customer Case Study

Barloworld Transport, a supply chain and logistics provider in KwaZulu Natal, partnered with MiX Telematics to give Meadow Feeds visibility and control over a 15-vehicle fleet. Barloworld’s challenge was to track vehicles, improve driver behaviour, reduce fuel consumption and kilometres driven, lower communication and licensing costs, and boost overall fleet safety and productivity using a reliable telematics solution.

MiX Telematics implemented MiX Fleet Manager with the FM Communicator on-board computer, an online tracking portal, hands-free voice kits and Beame units for stolen vehicle recovery, plus coaching and daily driver performance reports. Over 10 months average fuel consumption fell from 56 L/100 km to 53 L/100 km, cutting diesel costs from an estimated R8,653,291 to R8,189,722 — a saving of R341,965 total (about R1,900 per vehicle per month); other benefits included improved driver behaviour, automated reporting, servicing/licensing management and measurable gains in fleet efficiency.
