AVBOB, a South African burial society founded in 1921 with over a million policyholders, needed better visibility and control of its nationwide vehicle fleet. The organisation struggled to track vehicles working in remote, rural areas and was concerned about high running costs, speeding, unexplained idling and general misuse. AVBOB engaged channel partner Hyper Auto to deploy a MiX Telematics solution (FM Tracer hardware with the FM‑Web portal/FM Communicator services) to address these issues.

Hyper Auto implemented the MiX Telematics fleet-management system, delivering real‑time tracking, driver-performance analytics and reporting that enabled targeted driver training and corrective actions. The rollout reached roughly 600 fitted vehicles across ~130 branches (initial 105, then +100, then +400), and delivered measurable results including a 27% reduction in fuel costs in a 6‑month trial, lower maintenance costs, reduced kilometres travelled and decreased vehicle downtime — demonstrating clear operational and safety improvements from the MiX Telematics solution.
