DS Smith Recycling, the recycling division of DS Smith and a leading provider of corrugated packaging in Europe, wanted to further tighten driver performance and fleet efficiency despite already having a monitoring programme. To achieve this they partnered with MiX Telematics and deployed the MiX Fleet Manager solution with RIBAS in‑cab displays across 109 heavy trucks operating from nine depots.

MiX Telematics implemented RIBAS displays, a customised driver‑scoring system (95% green‑band benchmark), depot league tables, driver workshops and the MyMiX app to engage drivers and encourage safer driving. The programme delivered measurable gains for MiX Telematics’ customer: a 57% reduction in harsh braking, a 39% reduction in harsh acceleration, a 1.6% improvement in fuel consumption, higher driver scores, better road safety and reduced road risk.
