A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
Vitkovice Steel, a leading Czech steelmaker based in Ostrava, needed to replace a late‑1980s production monitoring system and obsolete PPC‑4 control computers to maintain 24x7 operations and support growing production complexity. They selected Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ ICONICS GENESIS32 OPC Web‑enabled HMI/SCADA suite, including AlarmWorX32 and DataWorX32, working with systems integrator Real Time Software to modernize their Plate Mill Coordination System (KSUP).
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented GENESIS32 integrated with Oracle, phasing in KSUP to replace the old MES and control systems; the solution runs on 26 client stations with ~40 main screens and 250 pop‑ups, supporting about 180 users. The system automatically monitors roll‑transporters and material piles, forwards production settings to aggregates, logs key parameters in Oracle, and archives alarms with AlarmWorX32—delivering high availability, easier maintenance, seamless integration with Siemens PLCs, Stratus/KEP servers and Microsoft/Oracle environments, and a lower total cost of ownership.
