A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
University of Virginia needed a campus‑wide visualization and monitoring platform to integrate more than 500 buildings, multiple heating/chilled water plants, three substations and over 2,800 meters with its home‑grown systems, support trending/reporting/billing, provide rich visualization and centralized alarm management, and connect diverse protocols and Microsoft infrastructure. The school selected Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions and deployed ICONICS GENESIS64™ along with Hyper Historian™, MobileHMI™, AnalytiX®, WebHMI™, AlarmWorX64™, Alarm Analytics and BridgeWorX™ to meet these requirements.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented an asset‑based GENESIS64 system with Hyper Historian tracking over 40,000 BAS/SCADA/asset points (nearly six billion samples per year) and hundreds of thousands of trend views, enabling easy visualization, comparisons and anomaly detection. The platform let UVA correct billing errors and reveal symptomatic energy use patterns, reconciling energy spending into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the university plans to expand the ICONICS deployment for alarm annunciation, forecasting and customized dashboards.
