United Biscuits’ McVitie’s plant in Tollcross, Glasgow needed to capture more than 30 years of operator expertise and retrofit it into an automatic, user‑friendly process control system for a high-speed multi‑zone baking oven. Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions supplied a GENESIS32‑based HMI/SCADA solution (including DataWorX32, GraphWorX32 and ScriptWorX32) to translate that experience into automated oven control.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented a rules‑based GENESIS32 system that acquires oven data, applies operator‑derived control rules and scripts adjustments to the PLCs, automatically selecting rule sets by product and protecting rule changes with passwords. The deployment improved product quality, increased line efficiency by 2.5%, and led United Biscuits to adopt GENESIS32 as their standard HMI/SCADA with wider rollouts planned.
