A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
The Town Of Tonawanda Water Resource Dept., which manages hundreds of miles of water and sewer lines for a community of ~80,000, was burdened by high support costs and an aging HMI/SCADA system. To modernize and reduce costs, they partnered with Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions to deploy ICONICS software, notably GENESIS32 Enterprise Edition and WebHMI.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented a multi-site solution—five GENESIS32 and five WebHMI servers, DataWorX redundancy, GraphWorX, TrendWorX and AlarmWorX—covering 13 remote pumping stations and roughly 4,000 I/O points with redundant OPC drivers and Ethernet (recovery <300 ms). The upgrade paid for itself in the first year by eliminating expensive legacy support fees, cut internal support time, enabled true thin‑client and mobile access, and gave the Town a scalable platform for future functionality such as ReportWorX.
