A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
The Pentagon, headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense with more than 23,000 personnel and 6.5 million square feet under one roof, needed a way to centrally monitor and control dozens of building systems (HVAC, fire, security, lighting, IT/telco, water and hazardous agent monitoring) across five wedges and multiple rings with the requirement that any system be reachable in three operator actions or less. Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions was selected to deliver an OEM version of ICONICS GENESIS32 (Web-enabled HMI/SCADA) together with AlarmWorX alarm management to provide the required visualization, integration and resilience.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented cascading pop-up drilldown menus over an enhanced aerial graphic, rich 3‑D animated control displays and OPC integration so operators can access thousands of parameters and potentially over a half‑million points. The solution populates the Pentagon’s Building Operations Command Center with individual workstations plus five 90‑inch displays for wall‑to‑wall monitoring, enabling 24/7 centralized oversight, faster event response and collaborative analysis. The GENESIS32/AlarmWorX deployment supports long‑term renovation and backward compatibility while delivering measurable improvements in situational awareness and control.
