A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
Scottish Water, which supplies drinking water to 2.5 million households and 156,000 businesses across Scotland, established an Intelligent Control Centre (ICC) to centralize operational awareness and reduce risks to customer service. Faced with the problem of manually consolidating disparate data sources (telemetry, customer contacts, weather, fleet and work-management systems) and the need to protect service-level measures such as OPA and interruptions to supply, Scottish Water engaged Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions to develop a data-driven situational awareness capability using ICONICS GENESIS64™.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented a GENESIS64-based Situational Awareness application that integrates live telemetry, customer data, Met Office weather, telematics and operations logs into geospatial displays and business-rule logic. The solution delivers early identification of business events, enables proactive intervention (targeting resolution of interruptions to supply within six hours), supports £3.8 million of operational efficiency, and aggregates thousands of events and hundreds of thousands of data points weekly—protecting OPA points and improving response for major events such as the Commonwealth Games.
