Case Study: SAP Research achieves immersive 3D visualization of its Future Factory testbed with Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (GENESIS64)

SAP Research’s Future Factory Initiative at the Dresden CEC needed a living lab and real‑world testbed to validate integrated manufacturing and business processes across supply chain, warehouse, production, sales and maintenance. To deliver high‑fidelity visualization and support distributed, multi‑manufacturer scenarios, SAP Research partnered with Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions and used ICONICS’ GENESIS64 HMI/SCADA suite to provide web‑enabled, 3D visualizations and OPC‑integrated monitoring.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions deployed GENESIS64 to give researchers a 360° view with animated 3D symbols, enabling validation of prototypes and end‑to‑end demonstrations. The implementation supported six demonstrators across the product value chain, enabled successful public showcases (including CeBIT), and earned strong praise from SAP Research for the visualization quality—proving a robust platform for real‑world testing and demonstration.
