A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
Rome Metro S.p.A., the public operator of Rome’s metropolitan rail and bus network, needed centralized monitoring, fast alarm notification and coordinated emergency control for auxiliary systems across dozens of stations. To address complex interlocks and frequent subsystem issues, Rome Metro engaged Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions to deploy the ICONICS GENESIS32 software suite for centralized monitoring and control.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented GENESIS32 (GraphWorX32, TrendWorX32, AlarmWorX32, ScriptWorX32) across 8 nodes with 7 alarm servers, integrating 70 ABB PLCs via Modbus RTU and a WAN OPC link; the system manages over 7,000 digital and 500 analog tags and monitors 3,000 alarms. The solution centralized security monitoring, enabled coordinated emergency ventilation and equipment actions, uncovered common alarm causes to improve response, and—per Rome Metro S.p.A.—substantially reduced subsystem failure durations, boosting operational uptime and system efficiency.
