R-CUA monitors 30,000 households of heat in real time with Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions

The customer R-CUA, an urban heat network provider in Strasbourg, France, faced challenges in monitoring its power plant and heat distribution. Their existing competitor monitoring solution and boiler-specific HMI were insufficient, and they needed a new system that could integrate with multiple BACnet controllers, work with cloud-based servers, and provide real-time data access via web browsers and mobile devices. They selected a suite of software solutions from vendor Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions, including GENESIS64, MobileHMI, and Hyper Historian.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented a system that provided R-CUA with widely available data access through both PC and mobile clients. The solution successfully integrated over 2,000 tags and replaced the outdated systems. The results included the ability to monitor the entire heat network in real time, with operators easily following daily operations through performance trend views. The measurable impact of the project includes powering the equivalent of 30,000 household units and, with the use of wood boilers, reducing CO2 output in Strasbourg by 7,000 tons per year.
