MSC Cruises - Customer Case Study

MSC Cruises needed a modern, ship‑wide monitoring and control system for HVAC aboard its new flagship, the MSC Meraviglia, to ensure passenger comfort and safety on a 315‑m, 5,714‑guest vessel. Working with system integrator Engie Axima, the cruise line selected Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ GENESIS64 HMI/SCADA and building automation suite to address the scale and complexity of the ship’s environmental systems.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented GENESIS64 to monitor and control roughly 450 fans, 820 sensors and 1,000 actuators, connecting about 6,000 physical I/O and 15,000 communications I/O points (including interfaces to over 100 SAIA Burgess PLCs and Kepware OPC Server). The web‑connected touchpad interfaces and intuitive HMI give operators centralized control of temperatures and HVAC parameters ship‑wide, delivering measurable integration at scale and ensuring reliable comfort and safety since the Meraviglia entered service in June 2017.
