Madison Water Sewerage District - Customer Case Study

Madison Water Sewerage District, which serves 111,000 customers and processes about 43 million gallons of wastewater per day, faced an aging serial-based SCADA system, higher pumping costs due to challenging terrain, strict phosphorus limits, and roughly 40 remote pumping stations with no cellular or Internet connectivity. To modernize operations and enable secure, remote access and better system management, the district selected Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions and its GENESIS64/Hyper Historian SCADA platform.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions deployed GENESIS64 along with Hyper Historian and associated modules (GraphWorX64, GridWorX, Asset Navigator, AlarmWorX), providing secure remote access, CMMS integration, and high customization. The new system now supports about 5,000 assets, ~40,000 process tags, 6,000 alarms and 5,000 historical points, improving uptime, data reliability and operator efficiency by enabling real‑time monitoring, streamlined maintenance workflows, and remote troubleshooting—benefits the Madison Water Sewerage District has sustained for nearly ten years.
