A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
Koning & Hartman, the Amsterdam-based system integrator working with Diergaarde Blijdorp Zoo’s Oceanium, faced the challenge of replacing end-of-life PLCs and delivering a modern HMI/SCADA solution to monitor complex seawater filtration and life-support systems. To integrate new Mitsubishi IQ‑F series PLCs and capture multiple data points (water levels, temperatures, pump statuses), they selected Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ GENESIS64 HMI/SCADA and building automation suite.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions, implemented by Koning & Hartman, deployed GENESIS64 to centralize data, rapidly build user-friendly dashboards, and enable alarms, trend analysis and mobile access. The solution delivered real-time insight into all Oceanium enclosures, automated alerts for faults, historical trends (for example, shark tank water levels over a year), and smartphone monitoring—providing a quick-to-deploy, future‑proof system that reduced reliance on third-party support.
