A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
Keokuk Municipal Water Works, which serves over 4,800 customers in Keokuk, IA, needed to replace a stand‑alone proprietary HMI and migrate from older GraphWorX graphics while maintaining continuous operation and improving data logging, visualization and alarm management. Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions was selected to provide a modern HMI/SCADA solution using ICONICS GENESIS32 with TrendWorX32 and AlarmWorX32 to interface with existing Allen‑Bradley PLCs and a Rotork valve package (Modbus/OPC).
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented GENESIS32 connecting to Allen‑Bradley Series 5 and MicroLogix PLCs, Prolinx HART multiplexer, Rotork valves, Hach analyzers and other field devices, with one OPC server, an alarm/trend server, five browser nodes and 1,500 digital plus 225 analog tags, logging to Microsoft SQL Server. The migration (including a 16→32‑bit graphics translator) was completed with no downtime, delivered more reliable, centralized monitoring and alarm logging, better visual representation of plant processes, and ongoing support through ICONICS SupportWorX.
