Kazakhstan Railway - Customer Case Study

Kazakhstan Railway needed a scalable, real-time energy monitoring and control system to manage rising electricity costs across its expansive network. Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (ICONICS) — via system integrator Technik-Trade — was selected to deliver an OPC-based HMI/SCADA solution, deploying the ICONICS GENESIS32 suite as the core of an ASCUE (Automation System of Control and Consumption for Energy) implementation.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ GENESIS32 was configured across 322 substations with ~300 data acquisition nodes and 9,100 parameters, using RS-485, VHF, GSM, DSL, Ethernet and satellite links and integrating with KTZ’s Microsoft infrastructure. The deployment enabled real-time electricity monitoring, standardization of energy control for remote switch-yards, reduced electric power purchasing costs and better control of consumption levels, and is being expanded to additional KTZ locations.
