Hong Kong Marine Department - Customer Case Study

The Hong Kong Marine Department, which monitors and regulates all ship movements in Hong Kong waters, faced rising traffic and the need for accurate, reliable 24/7 monitoring of radars, telecoms and remote communication towers to guide vessels and coordinate search-and-rescue. Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions was engaged to deliver the ICONICS GENESIS32 Web-enabled HMI/SCADA suite (with AlarmWorX32, TrendWorX32, GraphWorX32, WebHMI and OPC Server) to meet these critical operational requirements.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented a turnkey system integrating GENESIS32 with CCTV, communications equipment and RTUs across 18 remote sites on seven islands, connecting 21 OmniFlex 1000 RTUs. The deployment enabled centralized real-time monitoring, automatic alarms, enhanced graphics, data logging and report generation—allowing senior management to monitor and control the entire communications network remotely, improving reliability and rapid response for the port that handles over 1,000 ship movements daily and more than 300 moored vessels at any time.
