A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV), the regional transport operator in Naples managing suburban rail, metro and bus lines, needed to integrate station subsystems (fire alarms, CCTV, access control, escalators, elevators, electrical cabinets, etc.) into a single SCADA with advanced visualization and data tracking to improve operational control. System integrator AsiWork S.r.l. selected Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ ICONICS software—initially GENESIS32 and later upgraded to GENESIS64, plus OPC Modbus and WebHMI—to provide the automation and supervision platform.
AsiWork implemented station-level SCADA for five stations and a centralized GENESIS64 development instance on a virtual server, interfacing with ABB PLCs via OPC/Modbus and deploying local or client–server architectures as required. Using Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ products, EAV now monitors roughly 4,000 tags daily, remotely controls and supervises stations, improves safety and operational efficiency, enables maintenance managers to view alarms from offices for faster, targeted responses, and shortened deployment times; plans already call for adding ~2,000 more data points for upcoming station rollouts.
