Cork County Council - Customer Case Study

Cork County Council, the largest county in Ireland, faced a major data and compliance challenge: meeting an EU directive to cut energy consumption while managing water supply across four zones, roughly 391 DMAs and hundreds of meters. Relying on manual Excel entry made leakage and energy calculations impractical at that scale, so Cork County Council engaged Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions using GENESIS64 and AnalytiX to modernize its SCADA, leakage and energy-management capabilities.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions integrated legacy and new SCADA systems via OPC, converted existing graphics, and deployed GENESIS64/AnalytiX with Historian and SQL StreamInsight into a single SharePoint view with Bing maps. The solution automated daily reads from over 1,000 remote telemetry flow meters (via GPRS), consolidated more than 1,000 data points, delivered up-to-date DMA water-usage and leakage reports to managers, and enabled county-wide visualization and compliance reporting—dramatically replacing manual processes and improving water and energy management.
