Core Control Solutions Deliver a Fully Integrated ICONICS based Tunnel Control System
Core Control Solutions was engaged to upgrade the safety-critical Meir Tunnel control systems to future-proof asset management and speed up engineering response times while keeping the unmanned tunnel in daily service. Working with Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions, the project replaced the incumbent SCADA with the ICONICS GENESIS64™ platform and associated systems to meet Kier Highways’ requirement for a modern, resilient Tunnel Control System with zero planned infrastructure downtime during the upgrade.
Core Control Solutions implemented a fully integrated TCS using Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ GENESIS64 SCADA with HTML5 mobile visualization, hot‑standby PLCs, a resilient fibre‑optic ring and integrations for CCTV, VAID, VMS, lighting, energy and vehicle monitoring. Delivered ahead of programme with no system downtime, the upgrade delivered 360° asset awareness, faster and cleaner data collection, live video and mobile dashboards from the Coventry control room, and materially improved operator response times and situational awareness.
