Continental AG, the Hanover‑based tire and automotive supplier, needed to modernize process analysis and control across 18 tire production sites to capture near‑real‑time production data for statistical process control and advanced analytics. To build its "DOPAC" (Database for Online Process Analysis and Control) platform, Continental selected Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ ICONICS HMI/SCADA suite and data historian to replace legacy systems and centralize high‑rate, reliable data collection.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented ICONICS HMI/SCADA and a high‑speed plant historian in a pilot at Continental’s Puchov, Slovakia plant (prototype work began in 2016), delivering redundant architecture, data buffering at sources, high‑rate compression, SPC online, dashboards and archiving. The pilot system is being validated on more than ten machines in two locations, produced benefits such as greater transparency, web‑based access and a light installation footprint, and is planned for rollout to the remaining 20 passenger car, light‑truck, bus and truck tire facilities worldwide.
