A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
Comau Pico, a leader in industrial automation and member of the Comau Group, was tasked by Ford to design and install multiple cold and hot engine test stands that require 100% testing, detailed logging and trending of results, and management of several hundred tags per stand. To meet Ford’s needs for ease of use, speed and full OPC compliance, Comau Pico partnered with Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions and deployed the GENESIS32 HMI/SCADA software suite.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented GENESIS32 (GraphWorX32, TrendWorX32, AlarmWorX32, ScriptWorX32 and DataWorX32) across more than 50 engine test stands in six Ford plants, integrating test data via LAN to Ford’s Oracle POSMON database. The solution enabled 100% engine testing, centralized access to production, failure and downtime metrics, reduced the number of databases (typically from 8 to 4), accelerated software modifications, increased throughput and shortened implementation time, with Ford also using ICONICS support programs to keep systems updated.
