A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
The Centre for Advanced Laser Applications (CALA) in Garching, Germany, is a cutting‑edge research facility that runs high‑power lasers and X‑ray sources feeding five shielded experimental “caves.” To ensure precise beam alignment, secure access, and safe operation across spatially separated systems, CALA engaged Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (via system integrator MESALOGIC) to provide visualization and control using ICONICS GENESIS64 and KPIWorX.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented a GENESIS64 SCADA frontend with KPIWorX dashboards, coordinated from a two‑station control center and door‑mounted industrial PCs for each of the five caves. The solution enforces access locks, projects a system‑wide status on a central monitor and five door displays, captures full audit trails and setpoints for experiment analysis, and enables two teams to work concurrently — delivering improved safety, transparency, reliability, and operational efficiency that CALA reports meets their research needs.
