A Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions Case Study
Bohr Instrument Services, based in Veenoord, The Netherlands, provides DRILL-PRO drilling information systems for oil and gas rigs and needed a way to collect, visualize and alarm on large volumes of real‑time sensor data (bit forces, RPM, depth, pump pressure, temperature, tank levels, etc.) at the drill floor and in remote offices. To meet this challenge they selected Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ GENESIS32 software suite (GraphWorX32, TrendWorX32 and AlarmWorX32) to drive their DRILL-PRO HMI and data-acquisition displays.
Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented a GENESIS32-based system integrated with PLCs, Modbus/RS-232 communications and 802.11b wireless to provide touch‑screen graphical displays, alarm monitoring, vertical (persistent and historical) trending and triple‑redundant Microsoft Access storage. The solution centralized hundreds of sensor inputs, enabled immediate RAM access for decision-making, supported remote monitoring and easy customization, and helped operators prevent problems, drill more efficiently, reduce drilling time and achieve overall cost savings.
