Blue Lagoon Iceland - Customer Case Study

Blue Lagoon Iceland, the world‑renowned geothermal spa and hospitality operator in Grindavík, faced an aging SCADA estate—GENESIS32 and diverging OPC servers—that limited IT compatibility, scalability and maintainability as the site grew. Working with system integrator Idnadartaekni, Blue Lagoon chose Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ GENESIS64 platform (with GraphWorX64, AlarmWorX64 and Hyper Historian) to modernize control of building systems, lagoon water quality and related processes.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions implemented a GENESIS64 web‑thin client SCADA with AssetWorX site hierarchy, global aliasing, a centralized alarm server and Hyper Historian, plus Active Directory‑synchronized security and server‑side updates. The migration was completed in a couple of weeks and run in parallel for validation, eliminated desktop installs, enabled simultaneous multi‑user work, improved site visibility and operator confidence, and delivered a stable, future‑proof platform ready for expansion.
