Autocesta Zagreb-Macelj Ltd., the operator of a 59.2 km motorway in Croatia with six tunnels, needed a centralized way to monitor, manage, and maintain traffic and tunnel operations from a single control center in Krapina. The company also required a highly scalable, customizable, redundant .NET-based SCADA platform with support for a legacy TLS2002 BASt protocol not normally handled by standard industrial automation systems. Using Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ GENESIS64™ and PrecisionX Layout, LED Elektronika built a modern SCADA solution with real-time data collection, alarming, traffic visualization, automated response scenarios, and custom UI features. The backend was completed in weeks instead of months, reducing engineering effort by 5x to 7x, while front-end development effort fell by 2x to 4x. The new system improved traffic safety, operator efficiency, and situational awareness, with more intuitive displays and easier control across the motorway section.
