AdvanTech Corporation - Customer Case Study

AdvanTech Corporation served as the system integrator for the New York City DEP’s Croton System upgrade and faced the challenge of modernizing multiple dam and reservoir control rooms to reliably monitor and control valves, gates and actuators across separate sites—while meeting a strict MODBUS communication requirement and enabling remote, unattended operation. AdvanTech recommended Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ GENESIS32 HMI/SCADA suite to provide the required visualization, OPC integration and PC‑based automation.

Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions deployed GENESIS32 on dedicated industrial PCs at each reservoir control room, integrated with Schneider Electric PLCs over Ethernet and MODBUS, capturing historical data and providing remote visualization of valve status, water levels and pressures. The solution met NYCDEP’s specifications, enabled autonomous monitoring and control, and was operational at six sites with two more in progress (May 2009), helping ensure a reliable water supply for millions of New York residents.
