HMSHost, a global travel-dining leader operating in more than 120 airports and 99 travel plazas with over $3.1 billion in annual sales and some 39,500 employees, found its policy environment fragmented and inconsistent. Policies were scattered across functional intranet sites, often duplicated or outdated, used different formats and terms, and lacked a unified naming/numbering convention—making updates, version control and enterprise-wide buy-in difficult.

To address this, HMSHost created a single “meta” policy and structured policy management framework, standardized templates and naming, and piloted the approach in Operations Finance using the PolicyHub policy management solution. The result is a central repository with automated workflows, sign-offs, testing and reporting that improved access and compliance, reduced risk, and drove efficiencies—slimming 120+ policies to 40 and cutting policy content from 240 to 90 pages while enabling enterprise-wide adoption and stronger audit trails.
