A Mitratech Case Study
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe (SMBCE), a London-based subsidiary of the Japanese mega-bank, relied heavily on spreadsheets across its Risk and Finance functions. Rapidly changing business needs outpaced core systems, leaving a large, manually managed spreadsheet landscape with limited monitoring and growing governance, audit and regulatory risks.
SMBCE ran a six-week proof of concept and selected ClusterSeven for its consultancy-led, tailored implementation. ClusterSeven helped design an EUC policy, deploy automated controls and give full lifecycle visibility of critical spreadsheets, enabling change tracking, fast flagging of non‑compliance, safe decommissioning of files and stronger support for regulatory reporting (e.g., COREP, SOX). The solution delivered measurable efficiency and governance improvements in Risk and Finance and is being rolled out more widely across the bank.
