Furness Building Society, a mutual building society founded in 1865 and serving customers across the North‑West of England and the UK, undertook a major technology refresh that replaced its core mortgage and savings platforms. The Society needed an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution that could integrate with new and existing systems, migrate large volumes of historic documents from an ageing legacy system, and capture all new customer communications securely and accessibly.

They selected Mitratech’s DataStore, which scanned, indexed and ingested legacy records, integrated with the new core platforms, and now captures inbound and outbound correspondence, transaction reports and Office documents. The system delivered instant document access, stronger quality control, improved productivity and regulatory compliance, exceeded the project’s original objectives, and is being rolled out further across branches with plans for online customer access.
