This digital bank, serving over a million customers and focused on younger users with limited credit histories, needed identity verification that preserved a “happy, helpful and human” experience. The challenge was that up to a third of applicants couldn’t be verified by the bank’s initial IDV, risking lost customers unless verification worked smoothly and unobtrusively within the app.

By integrating Mitek’s SDK and Mobile Verify, the bank moved passive, AI-driven ID checks into the natural onboarding flow, with clear guidance and engaging microinteractions to keep users moving. The solution rescued 57% of applicants who would otherwise have been auto-declined, reduced IDV processing to an average of 5 seconds, delivered a 57% identification rate for the riskiest 25–30% of applicants, and enabled higher acceptance rates and plans to expand IDV into lending and P2P use cases.
