Mantel reaches pilot-scale carbon capture 18 months ahead with MIT The Engine

Mantel, a company developing high-temperature carbon capture technology, faced a significant challenge. They were in a race against time to validate their technology and needed extensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing modifications to their lab space to scale their operations and gather critical data. Finding a facility that could accommodate these modifications on their accelerated timeline was a major hurdle. The Engine provided the necessary industrial space and support to meet this challenge.

The Engine facilities team implemented the required power and HVAC modifications for Mantel's lab at a cost and pace that met their urgent needs. This support allowed Mantel to accelerate its progress dramatically, achieving its technical milestones 18 months ahead of schedule. This rapid de-risking of their science led to a highly successful $30 million Series A funding round and enabled a direct leap to a full-scale customer demonstration project with Kruger Corporation, which is expected to capture 1,800 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
