SKYDEX Technologies, a Centennial, CO defense sub‑contractor that develops blast‑mitigation and impact‑attenuation products, was growing rapidly but relied on QuickBooks and spreadsheets to manage inventory. Because much of their work is performed by multiple subcontractors and raw materials/WIP remained under SKYDEX ownership at remote sites, QuickBooks could not track inventory by location or allocate manufacturing costs, leading to manual processes and year‑end audit variances.

SKYDEX implemented MISys Manufacturing to augment QuickBooks—testing with a sample database and renting modules for two years before purchase—and used MISys Sure Start coaching for a smooth rollout and on‑the‑job training. The company now tracks inventory by revision and across multiple warehouses, identifies excess/obsolete stock, accurately allocates subcontractor costs with work orders, eliminated audit variances, and expanded the purchasing/inventory team without formal training thanks to the system’s ease of use.
