Amercian Garage Door Supply - Customer Case Study

American Garage Door Supply, a Bemidji, Minnesota manufacturer and reseller of commercial and residential exterior door systems, sells both standard and custom-configured doors and components and runs a separate local installation business. Before MiSys they relied on Peachtree and a point-of-sale system (Keystrokes) plus numerous small subsystems, which produced poor financial reporting (year-end close took 10 months), unreliable costing limited to Average/FIFO, weak margins, frequent returns, missed shipments and strained cash flow.

MiSys provided a unified manufacturing system on a monthly rental plan (later purchased) that consolidated inventory, costing, due dates and item tracking, introduced standard BOMs that can be modified per order, and organized shop-floor inventory by location. The result: month-end reconciliation now takes days, gross margin improved to ~40%, cash flow and order fulfillment improved, returns are rare, sales expanded to larger national accounts, and shop-floor labor fell from 16 to 5 while maintaining volume.
