South Central Connect Brings Wi-Fi to the Largest Covered Marina in Arkansas with Mist and Juniper Networks

South Central Connect, the for‑profit arm of South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative, faced the challenge of delivering reliable, self‑service Wi‑Fi in hard‑to‑reach rural locations—marinas, RV parks and other seasonal sites—while rolling out regional fiber. To serve boat owners at one of Arkansas’s largest covered marinas, South Central Connect selected the Mist Platform from Mist AI (an AI‑driven cloud WLAN) as its wireless solution.

Mist AI’s Mist Platform was deployed with a branded captive portal and integrated with South Central Connect’s Juniper routing and EX2300 switching to cover five houseboat docks across roughly 140 acres (including a 4‑acre, 1,200‑ft metal‑roofed dock). The deployment delivered uninterrupted streaming and video calls across the docks, simplified setup and troubleshooting (portal and analytics were operational in under 15 minutes), and helped advance the provider’s broader fiber‑to‑the‑home effort serving underserved residents and businesses.
