Windows Migration to AWS in One Day

ATCC, a global scientific resource organization managing more than 600,000 biological products, faced an urgent challenge when its longtime hosting provider announced a sudden data center shutdown. With only weeks to move 8 TB of Windows-based production data and critical systems like Active Directory, IIS, SQL Server, and Sitecore, ATCC needed a live migration with no service disruption and full disaster recovery capabilities. Mission was brought in to help lead the move to AWS.

Mission used CloudEndure to perform the migration and build a new cross-regional disaster recovery environment in AWS. The company migrated ATCC’s entire Windows environment to Amazon EC2 in just one day, with no unexpected downtime or issues, and also implemented AWS services including ELB, Auto Scaling, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch. Mission estimated the approach saved ATCC tens of thousands of dollars, while giving the company a more secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and stronger long-term business continuity.
