A Mission Case Study
RunKeeper, the fitness tracking app used by more than 40 million people, needed a way to scale its hosted data center infrastructure as demand grew rapidly. The company faced the risk of running out of compute and storage capacity, while also dealing with the impact of denial-of-service attacks affecting connectivity in its shared data center. To avoid downtime and support its growing SQL database and production applications, RunKeeper turned to Mission and AWS.
Mission worked with RunKeeper and its database partner Second Quadrant to design a streaming replication migration to AWS, gradually shifting traffic from the old data center to the cloud. The move kept downtime to less than one hour for 40 million customers and delivered better performance, ongoing managed DevOps, faster issue resolution through Mission Cloud One, and protection from denial-of-service attacks.
