Kanopy, a video-streaming service, needed a more robust and secure cloud platform as its customer base and partnerships with libraries and universities grew. After initially relying on a co-location data center and then trying to manage AWS internally, the team partnered with Mission to help build and manage its AWS environment using services like Amazon RDS, EC2, ECS, ElastiCache, and Terraform.

Mission stabilized and re-architected Kanopy’s AWS infrastructure, migrated its MariaDB database to Amazon RDS, added VPN security, improved fault tolerance and backups, and enabled infrastructure-as-code automation. As a result, Kanopy gained consistent streaming performance, easier scaling, faster deployment of new services, and 24x7 monitoring, while website response times decreased by 22%; Mission also helped the team focus on product development instead of cloud management.
