JoVE Boosts Science Video Streaming Performance Via AWS Migration

JoVE, a leading publisher of science education and laboratory experiment videos, was struggling with application performance slowdowns, slow multi-data-center deployments, and inconsistent technical support as its subscriber base grew. To address these issues, JoVE turned to Mission and AWS cloud services to modernize its video delivery infrastructure and better support global streaming demand.

Mission helped JoVE migrate from a co-location data center to AWS using infrastructure-as-code, a CI/CD pipeline, auto-scaling, high-availability failover, logging, backups, and CDN integration through Cloudflare and Amazon S3. The new environment improved streaming performance, cut developer update time for static pages from 45 minutes to two minutes, synced updates automatically across regions, and reduced overall monthly IT costs by approximately 50%.
