International Toy, a global toy manufacturer and long-time AWS customer, was facing rapid infrastructure growth as demand for its flagship tablet and digital experience increased. With more than 650 AWS instances by late 2015, the company needed immediate cost savings without affecting service availability or the end-user experience, and it turned to Mission and CloudHealth for visibility and optimization guidance.

Mission worked with International Toy’s technology team to right-size the AWS environment and identify savings opportunities, reducing the footprint by more than 90 instances while still meeting performance needs. The effort delivered over $37,500 in monthly OPEX savings, more than $600K in annual savings, a 35%+ reduction in monthly AWS billing, and enabled AWS Business Support at no additional cost, with over 55% of instances covered by Reserved Instances.
