University of Westminster - Customer Case Study

The University of Westminster faced growing pressure to preserve an exponential volume of web and social media content with limited staff and budget while meeting regulatory and research requirements. To explore affordable, high‑fidelity capture and replay, the university ran a test project with MirrorWeb, using MirrorWeb’s cloud‑native hybrid web and social media crawler and the HE Essentials 30GB “research archive” portal to trial automated capture and access workflows.

MirrorWeb delivered a user‑friendly, cloud‑based crawler and portal that auto‑QA’s crawls, generates ISO‑certified WARC files and, via API, ingests those WARCs into Arkivum Perpetua for long‑term preservation. As a result, the University of Westminster can capture and replay its main website and social accounts with minimal intervention, access archived WARCs 24x7x365, and use reporting and metadata tools (MIME types, crawl logs, Dublin Core collections) to streamline digital curation—all enabled by MirrorWeb in collaboration with Arkivum.
