Young Entrepreneurs Meet in Miro to Shield Baltimore Communities From COVID-19

Dent Education, a nonprofit empowering under-resourced youth in Baltimore, faced the challenge of continuing its hands-on, earn-to-learn summer program after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of in-person activities. The organization needed a way to break students out of isolation, teach valuable skills, and provide income opportunities remotely. They turned to Miro to find a virtual solution that could replicate their collaborative, creative environment.

By implementing Miro's visual workspace, the team was able to collaborate in real-time to brainstorm and map out a plan to produce face shields. The platform enabled transparent communication and kept all participants engaged from their homes. Using Miro, the students successfully launched a full operation called Made@Dent, producing over 40,000 face shields, generating $100,000 in revenue, and providing over $50,000 in direct income to the students and their families. Miro proved to be a more powerful tool for collaboration than their previous in-person methods.
