How Social Finance brings agility to a risk-averse industry

Social Finance is a nonprofit that designs and scales solutions to complex social problems; their Leaving Well team set out to improve outcomes for young adults leaving foster care but hit a major blocker: a lack of real-time outcomes data and the internal capability to turn user research into a usable product. To research, prototype and collaborate across councils and frontline workers — often while traveling — they adopted Miro as their visual collaboration tool for sticky-note system maps, user-research synthesis and remote brainstorming.

Using Miro, Social Finance rapidly mapped systems, prototyped the Leaving Well mobile app, ran workshops and retrospectives, and kept distributed stakeholders engaged in real time. Miro enabled faster synthesis of qualitative insights and supported the team’s shift to a product-led approach; the Leaving Well pilot is now active in seven local authorities, Social Finance is growing its product and research capability, and the team reports stronger collaboration and clearer evidence collection to inform decisions. Miro’s visual workspace was cited as central to those gains.
