GE Digital maintains momentum for Lean transformation with Miro

GE Digital, a software subsidiary of General Electric, was challenged by the sudden shift to remote work, which threatened to halt its Lean management transformation. The team, led by Vice President Paul Sloup, traditionally relied on in-person kaizen workshops for collaborative problem-solving. The lockdown made this hands-on approach impossible, creating a need for a virtual tool that could foster the same level of interconnectivity and dialogue to maintain momentum.

Implementing Miro's online whiteboard allowed GE Digital to successfully recreate its kaizen workshops in a virtual format. The Miro solution enabled teams to map value streams, brainstorm with digital sticky notes, and track progress transparently, becoming a single source of truth. The results were significant: decision-making time was reduced from weeks to days, over 400 employees adopted the tool, and hundreds of boards were created within three months, saving time and reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement.
