Tata Communications’ OpenStack-based Managed Private Cloud Enables Digital Transformation of the Global Enterprise

Tata Communications, a global network and managed services provider, built the IZO™ Private Cloud to help enterprises tackle growing IT complexity: CIOs needed faster innovation without losing control of legacy systems, compliance, or infrastructure choices across many locations. To meet this, Tata set out to deliver a managed private cloud that combined infrastructure freedom, global connectivity and centralized control for multi‑national customers.

Tata chose an OpenStack-based platform implemented with Mirantis to provide vendor‑agnostic infrastructure options, a self‑service orchestration console integrated with ITSM, and secure Tier‑1 network connectivity for hybrid bursting. Since its 2015 rollout across 15 data centers, customers have migrated critical workloads for better performance and disaster recovery, gained on‑demand scalability and chargeback visibility, and dozens of enterprises are using the service as part of their digital transformation, with the platform able to scale many times over.
