Mirantis Supports Société Générale’s Journey of Cloud Native Transformation

Société Générale, a global financial services group based in Paris, needed to modernize its IT by moving hundreds of monolithic applications to a secure, hybrid cloud platform that could host both legacy and new workloads. The bank required a solution that met strict security and compliance needs, isolated sensitive workloads, supported developer agility, and enabled a goal of running the majority of workloads in the cloud.

Using Mirantis Kubernetes Engine (evolving from Docker Enterprise), Société Générale migrated from Swarm to Kubernetes and implemented a hybrid, multi‑cluster architecture with custom APIs, RBAC and integrated CI/CD. The result: a scalable cloud‑native platform running more than 1,000 applications—around 33,000 containers/pods across roughly 1,000+ nodes and 9,000 cores—faster developer workflows, improved security and compliance, up to ~30% compute/energy savings, and greater flexibility to meet sustainability targets.
