Mirantis OpenStack to replace virtualization for Agile IT, lower cost, and host millions of game players in 20 global data centers

G-Core, a global gaming infrastructure and managed-hosting provider that supports large clients like Wargaming, faced rising platform costs, low server virtualization rates and slow, manual provisioning that delayed game releases. To meet fluctuating player demand, speed developers’ time-to-market, and lower CapEx/OpEx, G-Core needed a more flexible, automated private cloud that could scale across its data centers without sacrificing performance.

G-Core and Wargaming implemented Mirantis OpenStack with custom Fuel plug-ins, Murano-based provisioning and integrations for AD, NFS and Puppet, plus training and phased rollout. The result: VM provisioning fell from days to under an hour, server utilization and developer efficiency rose, expensive virtualization licenses were eliminated, and capital and operating costs declined—already realized across 110 nodes in four data centers with plans for mass migration and expanded OpenStack services.
