Mirantis Helps Inmarsat Build Its Next-Generation Communications Network

Inmarsat, a global satellite communications provider, needed a next-generation network platform to support its expanding ORCHESTRA communications network and replace dedicated physical appliances with a more flexible, unified cloud approach. Mirantis was selected to help, using Mirantis Telco Cloud and Mirantis OpenStack for Kubernetes to support telecom workloads and edge/NFV use cases.

Mirantis deployed OpenStack for Kubernetes into Inmarsat’s development environment and helped onboard data-plane-intensive workloads such as virtual routers, packet core, firewalls, and deep packet inspection. The result was improved cloud agility, density, performance, and reliability, plus the ability to upgrade Telco Cloud infrastructure without disrupting active NFV workloads; Inmarsat also planned to roll out the platform across its global data centers by the end of 2022.
